Reviews
I've always wanted to play piano, but have never really made it beyond a series of self-help books that did nothing except frustrate me. This series is different. It's aimed at children and starts with very basic concepts and drills and activities. They're fun and very clear. I'm now most of the way through the second book(s) in the series and will order the next set soon. I'm more comfortable with reading notes, especially on the bass clef, and I'm learning theory in small doses. Most of the way through volume 2, we've worked in the keys of C, G, D, and A, but without calling attention to that. We have not yet studied particular key signatures, although sharps and flats and most notation is now familar. My only complaint, which is minor, is that there are four books: lessons, theory, technique, and performance. While the four books refer to each other, it might be better if they were integrated into one larger book. I understand possible reasons for not doing this, but it would be a little easier to keep track of where the student is in each separate volume.
